Nokia recently announced that it would be pulling the plugs on the Symbian and MeeGo platforms. It would be extremely easy to recognise Symbian phones in the Nokia line-up, but the same does not apply to the MeeGo platform. In fact, Nokia has so far introduced only one phone featuring this operating system, and it was the N900. It was revolutionary, but was sadly not able to compete with the Android rivals. Despite announcing the partnership with Microsoft, Nokia will be launching one final attempt at cracking the code for the MeeGo platform. The Nokia N9 is that attempt.

Many viewed the arrival of this phone into the Nokia platform with doubt given the recent collaboration with Microsoft, which will see the arrival of new Windows phones from Nokia. However, the Nokia N9 does eliminate the need to wait for such a phone, as it is great phone by its own virtues. Most of the features present in this newly launched device are present in the Nokia N8 and the Nokia E7. Therefore, the presence of a 3.9-inch touch screen display certainly does not offer a great surprise. However, usage of a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels certainly introduces interest into the phone. Previous Nokia phones used to come only with resolutions around 360 x 640 pixels, so the resolution in the Nokia N9 is a major step ahead.

It could also be a vision into the future as many Windows phones from Nokia could offer this feature. Another innovative feature in the display department of the phone is the anti-glare polariser, which supposedly improves the performance of the display under direct sunlight. This along with the AMOLED technology provides the perfect answer for the problems faced by touch screen phones. The gorilla glass display protects the screen as already seen in the Nokia N8. However, a new addition in this phone has to be the support provided to the listening experience in the headphones. Many phones now offer the Dolby Mobile Surround Sound option, but the Dolby Headphone Support something that is unique to the Nokia N9 as of now.

Instead of the 12-megapixel unit in the Nokia N8, this phone features an eight-megapixel unit. It may appear toned down in terms of megapixel count, but it is comparable with the Nokia N8's camera in terms of quality. The major differences between this and the previously available high-end phones from Nokia are in the processor and operating system. It is going to run on a 1 GHz processor, which is again a vision into the future Nokia phones. The phone can play back high-definition content, which also makes the presence of a powerful processor an absolute must. It also has to run the MeeGo v1.2 Harmattan OS, which will be the last of its kind in a Nokia phone. Despite the announcement from the company of the same, interest for this phone does not seem to have waned at all. The Nokia N9 will be available within the few months.((articlesbase.com)
