T-Mobile announced they will launch the new BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900. This phone was originally expected to be ready by the end of Summer, however; it is now expected to launch this September. This will be the first touch screen 4G BlackBerry available; hence, there is much anticipation around the launch of the 9900 Bold. Note - T-Mobile is the first provider to confirm that it will stock the Bold 9900. However, it is expected that Sprint, AT&T and Verizon will stock this phone. When and for how much is another question.

If your upgrade is due you are probably wondering what the difference is between the 9900 and the 9780 (the current BlackBerry Bold from T-Mobile):

* Design - the new 9900 Curve is the thinnest BlackBerry yet at just 10.5 mm versus the 9780 at 14.1 mm. Other than the welcomed reduction in thickness, the rest of the design is similar to the original Bold design with the popular full QWERTY keyboard and optical track-pad. The specs are: 115 x 66 x 10.5 mm and 130 grams.

* Screen - this phone sports a 2.8 inch multi-touch screen with excellent clarity (640 x 480 pixels), versus the 9780 with a 2.44 inch LCD screen (480 x 360 pixels). Clearly the 9900 is a winner in this category, however, this phone is not designed for spending long periods of time viewing You Tube and movie clips. If this is something that interests you have a look at myTouch 4G, which has 4G and excellent multi-media functions.

* Processor - 1.2 GHz Snapdragon (almost twice that of the current Bold) and 786 RAM. This should allow you to run a number of apps simultaneously with out the phone slowing up or 'freezing'. Memory - 8GB onboard and a micro SD card slot that can add another 32 GB, so more than enough memory for all your media.

* Camera is the same as the 9780 at 5 Mega pixels; however, the video recording is an improvement at 720p HD.

* Connectivity is a marked improvement with the 9900 running on 4G networks versus 3G. The increase in web browsing speed, and of course the touch screen with the pinch to zoom and 'liquid graphic' display add to the attractiveness of the 9900. The 'liquid graphic' display results in the entire page to loading at once so that you don't have to wait for sections of the page to load while you scroll down the web page.

New BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 is a marked improvement on the 9780 largely due to the improved web 4G browsing ability and the slightly larger, sharper, touch screen display. Physically the 9900 looks fairly similar to the 9780. BlackBerry has dominated the market the corporate sector with their practical, robust and secure phones, with the introduction of 4G speeds and touch screen web browsing the Bold 9900 will introduce a practical and impressive multi-media phone to the world. The screen of the Bold 9900 will still be fairly small compared to the larger Android 4G phones; hence, giving a better web browsing experiences on the Android phones. Nevertheless, web browsing on the 9900 will be more than adequate for limited web browsing users. In addition, the larger 4G phones suffer from poor battery life; hence, the 9900 battery life should perform better than most of the 4G Android devices. As far as pricing goes, this has not been mentioned by T-Mobile or BlackBerry.(ezinearticles.com Mark Francis)
